Venus out at Wimbledon first day 2012

Venus Williams was upset on Court 2, aka the graveyard court, by Elena Vesnina 6-1, 6-3. Other notable upsets included Tomas Berdych, a former finalist, losing to Ernests Gulbis, 7-6, 7-6, 7-6 and American hopeful, John Isner fell to Alejandro Falla 6-4, 6-7(7) 3-6, 7-6(7), 7-5 in three hours and 12 minutes. Isner had a match point in the fourth set, but could not covert. Donald Young also lost, leaving Americans once again looking for a star on the distant horizon.
