Serena Ousted By Sloane Stephens in Aussie Open Quarters

Tonight shortly after 9pm pst, Sloane Stephens announced the arrival of another young player who has come to join the discussion of who can win a slam over the next year.  Despite calling a trainer for her back in the second set, Stephens kept her cool after trailing 3-6, 0-2 before gathering herself and closing out the 15-time slam winner, 3-6, 7-5, 6-4.  At times it appeared that Stephens would not be able to hit the big shots when enjoying a lead, blowing a couple of sitters long in allowing Serena to break her for what would turn out to be the last game Serena would win in the upset.  Tomorrow, Sloane will face another vaunted foe, defending Australian Open champion, Victoria Azarenka.
