Valentine’s Day Mixed Doubles Round Robin

It was a beautiful afternoon on February 16th for mixed doubles at the club. Everyone came out for some social mixed doubles. Players enjoyed 5 rounds of 4 games each, switching courts, but keeping the same Valentine’s partner for each round. The Hugs Division was on Court 1 and 2 with five quality teams participating. In five closely contested rounds, Leslie Howard and Carlos Dunkerly edged out the other teams for the victory. In the Kisses Division, there were 8 teams, who also played five rounds. Ultimately, Lucy Walker and Gary came out on top with a total of 17 games. They exhibited consistency and placement, the main weapons of a good doubles team along with communication. All players received a gift bag for Valentine’s Day that included wrist bands, grip tape, a pen, and some heart-shaped candies. At the conclusion of the matches, we congregated at the tennis desk for drinks and ate some of our candy while talking about the matches and the wonderful attributes of tennis.
